Sunny Side of the Doc Unveils 2024 Official Selection
Sunny Side of the Doc proudly unveils the 42 projects hailing from 21 diverse nations, comprising the official selection for its 35th edition, scheduled from June 24th to 27th, 2024, in La Rochelle, France.

Anticipation runs high for the forthcoming pitch sessions, where international co-production opportunities will be at the forefront. These sessions will captivate an audience of over 300 distinguished decision-makers from across the globe, representing major broadcasters, streaming platforms, philanthropic foundations, distributors, buyers, and investors eager to champion narratives with profound impact.

Last December's call for projects sparked global interest, with 320 submissions from 60 countries, highlighting Sunny Side of the Doc's enduring appeal. Notably, over 55% of these projects are led by women.

Over the span of four days in June, the 42 selected projects will vie for the coveted Best Pitch Prize across seven thematic pitch sessions, supported by industry partners such as PBS International, Blue Ant Media & Love Nature, RTBF, Al Jazeera Documentary & AJB DOC. These sessions encompass Specialist Factual, covering Global Issues, Nature & Conservation, Science, History, Arts & Culture, and the Focus of the Year, which includes New Voices and Impact Campaigns, each offering a respective cash prize.

In addition to the main lineup, Sunny Side of the Doc proudly announces the selection of five projects for its inaugural Innovation WIP (Work in Progress) program. Introduced this year, this initiative aims to foster the creation of non-linear documentary content across various mediums such as podcasts, video games, immersive technologies, digital arts, and virtual worlds. The chosen projects will receive tailored support for their development pre-market and during the event.

The winners in each category will be announced the following day after their pitch session at the daily Awards Café in the Meeting Area, providing an ideal platform for press and attendees to engage with the visionary leaders behind these projects in a congenial atmosphere.
