The global success of Argentinean format Sres. Papis Sres. Papis, the Argentinean format, created by the development team of Telefe, continues to establish itself as a sales success around the world. Its adaptations around the globe have turned this format in a truly worldwide phenomenon.
“Sres Papis” premiered in Argentina in 2014 on Telefe’s Prime Time, leading its time slot, maintaining an average share of 32% throughout the cycle. This “dramedy”, written by Cecilia Guerty, Pablo Junovich, Marcela Guerty and Pamela Rementeria, tells the story of four dads who develop a bond based on their encounters at their children’s kindergarten, tackling friendship and fatherhood in modern times.
Mega, in Chile, did the first adaptation of the format and it was a true local success. The Chilean version quickly became the most-watched show in 2016, sweeping in audiences with an average 24-point rating, in addition to taking by storm Chilean Prime-Time share.
Grupo Imagen (Mexico) chose “Sres. Papis” as its first fiction project produced in its new forums in Mexico City. Meanwhile, during this last March, the Peruvian adaptation was premiered on América TV reaching 27 rating points on its debut night, and over 42% share.
“Sres. Papis” continued its sales success outside Latin America, becoming the first Latin American fiction to be adapted in an Eastern European country, Slovakia (Markiza). This version was an audience share success with 33%, positioning itself first in its Access-Prime-Time slot. The Slovakian success encouraged other Eastern European countries to acquire the format, extending to: Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Serbia and Germany. Currently it is in pre-production in Hungary and the Middle East, in addition to recently being licensed in Ukraine.
“We are very proud to have collaborated in positioning ‘Sres. Papis’ in four continents. More so in the fact that those who believed in the content went on to achieve local success, which enables us to expand the experience in other territories. It is definitely a case of global success. I have no doubts that the format still has a long way to go, and that soon it will become a best-seller within our wide fiction format catalogue”, said Guillermo Borenzstein, VP of Sales and Co-production of Viacom International Studios.
“This story becomes more and more relevant as time goes by, as it built strong male characters, who tackle fatherhood from an innovative and sensitive place, creating a bond with all members of the family”, added Mercedes Reincke, VP of Content Development of Viacom International Studios.
