Endemol Shine Israel’s hit drama series Harem sold to SBS Australia Global content creator, producer and distributor Endemol Shine Group announces that hit Israeli drama Harem has sold to SBS in Australia.

Created and produced by Endemol Shine Israel for Reshet 13, Harem is inspired by cults in Israel and the world, this fictional tale tells the exhilarating story of a charismatic mystic healer who lives in Tel Aviv with 20 wives, who birthed him more than 40 children.

The series has been ordered for a second run which is currently in production with creators Anat Barzilai, Hadar Galron and Gadi Taub.

The deal was negotiated ahead of Series Mania by Endemol Shine International’s Sales Director Australia and New Zealand, Lyle Bettson-Barker.

Cathy Payne, CEO at Endemol Shine International says “Israel is a prolifically creative market with a proven track record for producing compelling and contemporary dramas. Harem is ideally suited to the tastes of SBS in Australia who have a long heritage in programming in multiple languages. With diverse labels across Endemol Shine Group last year producing 50 non-English language production, our offering for the international market is rapidly gaining momentum.”

Endemol Shine Group’s award-winning labels include those from the Nordics (Filmlance, Rubicon), Germany (Wiedemann and Berg), Netherlands (NL Films), France (ES Fiction), Iberia (Diagonal), and scripted teams in Israel, Italy, Poland, Russia, India and China. Last year these labels were behind 50 non-English language scripted productions.

Other recent and forthcoming dramas from Endemol Shine Israel include Queens for broadcaster HOT which is in production for a second series and Just for Today for YES which has been selected for Series Mania’s Official Competition with a premiere screening on 23rd March at 19:00 in Lille, France.
