The series is based on the novel Miss Merkel – Mord in Der Uckermark (Tr. Miss Merkel– Murder in Uckermark) by David Safier.
Former German chancellor Angela Merkel has found an interesting new leisure activity: solving crimes. Six weeks after the end of Merkel’s (portrayed by Katharina Thalbach) career, she is quite bored, living with her husband and her pug. When a baron is found poisoned in a locked castle dungeon, Merkel starts investigating.
