Dori Media Group's ‘In Treatment’ to be adapted into Arabic by Abu Dhabi Media
Dori Media Group (DMG) has signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates’ Abu Dhabi Media (ADM), the UAE’s leading public service broadcaster and media company, to create an Arabic version of the critically acclaimed psychological drama, ‘In Treatment’.

The format was commissioned at MIPCOM Cannes, which is the largest event of its kind in the world for the television and entertainment industry.

Abu Dhabi Media has commissioned 45 episodes of the Arabic adaptation of ‘In Treatment’ for its flagship channel, Abu Dhabi TV, that will also be available on the ADtv app. The format was originally created by Sheleg Productions’ by the award-winning producer, Hagai Levi, who is known for ‘Scenes from a Marriage’ and ‘The Affair’.

The announcement marks yet another successful partnership between Dori Media Group and Abu Dhabi Media, following deals for unscripted formats ‘The Selfie Challenge’ and ‘Win The Crowd’.

Originally titled ‘BeTipul’, ‘In Treatment’ is considered one of the most successful TV format exports in the world. According to a 2019 article by Variety based on research by K7 Media, ‘In Treatment’ is “the best-selling international scripted remake of the past decade.” Many adaptations have won critical acclaim, including the US version which saw Dianne West win a Primetime Academy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (2008). The format, which originally premiered in 2006, has been adapted in more than 20 countries worldwide; most recently in the US with HBO Max, Brazil with Globoplay, France with Arte and in Georgia with Nova. The Arabic version by Abu Dhabi Media will be the format’s first adaptation in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Revolving around the theme of mental health, ‘In Treatment’ takes viewers on a journey through the intriguing and fascinating world of psychotherapy. The series follows ongoing sessions between a psychotherapist and his five diverse patients, with each weekday dedicated to one patient's therapy session.
