The movie freely inspired by the autobiography "Step by step - My story", is interpretatd by actress Alessandra Mastronardi who plays the prima ballerina of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
"Carla" tells her story starting from childhood in the immediate postwar period, adolescence and Milan in the 50s and 60s. From her training to international consecration, up to the decision to become a mother at a crucial moment in her career.
The film is directed by Emanuele Imbucci and was made with the direct advice of Carla Fracci herself, her husband Beppe Menegatti and their historical collaborator Luisa Graziadei. Filming took place in Rome, Orvieto and Milan and, for the first time for a fiction, inside the Teatro alla Scala.
