MIA Market 2020 started today: Press Conference and Welcome Ceremony at Palazzo Barberini
The press conference for the presentation of the sixth edition of MIA|International Audiovisual Market was held at Palazzo Barberini today.

Salute of welcome by Flaminia Gennari Santori, Director of the National Ancient Art Galleries, was followed by speeches of the most significant figures for MIA and, more generally, of the Italian cultural and economic sector: Dario Franceschini, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and of Tourism; Stefano Patuanelli, Ministry of Economic Development; Marina Sereni, Vice-Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Carlo Ferro – President of ICE-ITA Italian Trade Agency; Paolo Orneli, Assessor for Economic Development, Commerce and Crafts, Research, Start-Up and Innovation of Lazio Region; Francesco Rutelli, President of ANICA; Giancarlo Leone, President of APA; Lucia Milazzotto, Director MIA and Salvatore Pisconti, Regional Manager for Centre Italy of Unicredit.

Among the speeches, Minister Franceschini, in live streaming declared: We have to support the audiovisual sector, but we know for sure that its growth is so great that it continues even in such a situation.

Francesco Rutelli then added “the strength of MIA and that the supply chain meets here and demonstrates how integrated it is. Technology makes it possible to hold a hybrid event of international standing here. Rome itself today is the stage for this fusion. We are the first country where public and private have understood how their integration is strategic and a strength for the country.

Giancarlo Leone also added: MIA is the first market in the world to reopen games, with at least 1500 operators on site and also digitally […]. A whole series of projects that make it an essential moment and a laboratory of excellence. Mia is proving to be Italian and world excellence and proves that the country can work as a system.

Market Director Lucia Milazzotto also suggested a reflection about this occasion as follows: “MIA is a laboratory born from industrial and collective reasoning […]. It is a business event that differs, not only for its hybrid nature in presence and digital […]. We present over 125 projects that are seeking international funding for me and that will enter the market as global products. We have 1400 accredited, of which 600 are buyers. MIA has responded to an urgency not only in Italy but also internationally, that of maintaining international contacts during a period of isolation. Having bet on an event in attendance has brought the attention to the enhancement of the territory and industry. It is safe and comes with the necessary protocols to meet again in Rome, but it maintains its entirety with a digital platform. Our participants come from all over Europe, over 42 participating countries ”.
