Mediacrest named Alberto Macías as Head of Fiction
Spanish production and content distribution company, Mediacrest, has appointed one of the most recognized writers in the Spanish audiovisual scene, Alberto Macías, as Head of Fiction. Its name is associated with some of the most relevant Spanish television series in the last 30 years as La casa de los líos, Cuéntame, Servir y proteger and Brigada Costa del Sol. He has also written films such as Antigua Vida Mía (Héctor Olivera, 2001) awarded internationally, or Los aires difíciles (Gerardo Herrero, 2006). He is the current president of the ALMA writers' union.

In his new role Alberto Macías will lead Mediacrest's fiction department replacing Pablo Barrera, who during his time heading the fiction department has launched 14 projects that are in different stages of development. Both have been collaborating in the development of some of these and know perfectly all of them.

The new Head of Fiction assures: "Audiovisual fiction, like the cells of our body, tend to renew completely every few years: new formats, themes, mixed genres, advances in production and new variables that drive that change. We are different and we are the same. We innovate without forgetting that in essence we are storytellers at the service of viewers".

He added: "I join a well-established project, with a strong fiction proposal and a great creative team led so far by Pablo Barrera.I thank Mediacrest management for their confidence in me. I firmly believe that we have the human and technical elements, and the opportunity to become a reference for fiction and entertainment in Spain".
