China’s Huawei is rolling out an OTT streaming service in Spain and Italy, with the intention to also launch in other European countries.
The new platform is offering a catalogue of subscription on demand films and series for Huawei and Honor-branded smartphones and tablets. In addition, Huawei Video will also offer transactional on-demand movies as well as linear channels.
Huawei Video is available as a pre-installed app on the company’s mobile devices and comes with free-of-charge content (mostly trailers and documentaries), the Huawei VIP monthly subscription with content from partners RTVE, eOne, Zoomin, Inverleigh, Daluqiao, Thema and Atresmedia.
There are two subscription tiers, free (ad-supported), customers will be able to access only trailers, extra content and the first episode of the series, all in SD quality.
A paid version costs €4.99 per month, giveng access to a selection of series, short videos, sports videos and documentaries.
In the T-VOD offer, the service also offers on-demand films and series to rent for 48 hours, as a one off €2.99 transaction or priced at €1.99 for VIP subscribers.
