Lineup Industries has secured a new commission for its celebrity quiz format In Other News, Today, which is set to launch on NPO 1 in the Netherlands in February 2027, while the Belgian adaptation returns for a sixth season on VRT. Produced by Mediawan Skyhigh for Dutch broadcaster WNL, the daily show will be hosted by news anchor and late-night presenter Frank van Leeuwen. Meanwhile, the Belgian version will air four times a week over an 11-week run, also beginning in February.
Created by Belgian production company Panenka, behind successful formats Taboo and Switch, In Other News, Today combines topical news, celebrity entertainment and live audience participation. Each episode features three celebrity guests competing in a lighthearted quiz based on news stories and social media updates from the previous 24 hours. By answering questions, the celebrities build a cash prize that viewers can win simply by registering online.
The format's distinctive feature comes in the final round, when a second presenter surprises a registered viewer live in their living room, connecting their home directly to the studio. The celebrities then face a series of quick-fire questions to determine whether the viewer wins the prize or whether the jackpot rolls over to the next episode.
Ed Louwerse, Founder of Lineup Industries, said: "In Other News, Today is current affairs made fast and fun – an ideal daily show where not only can you play along at home, but you can also sign up to be part of it and a potential winner, without having the pressure of answering a question. It’s great for family co-viewing and the type of format that broadcasters are seeking as a schedule staple.”
