Movistar Plus and Skydance Expand Strategic Partnership
Movistar Plus and Skydance have expanded their strategic partnership through a new two-year global agreement, strengthening one of the key collaborations in Spain’s audiovisual market. The deal spans streaming, television channels, cinema, original content and sports rights, reinforcing Movistar Plus’ entertainment offering. The main development is the creation of a new category of original productions jointly developed by Movistar Plus and HBO. The initiative aims to bring Spanish series to international audiences by combining local creative talent with the production capabilities and global distribution reach of HBO Max and Skydance.
“This agreement strengthens a long-standing strategic partnership with Skydance and allows us to continue offering our customers the most comprehensive entertainment proposition on the market, combining an outstanding user experience with some of the audiovisual industry’s most recognised content and brands,” said Alfonso Gómez Palacio, CEO of Movistar Plus.
Alessandro Araimo, Managing Director and Executive Vice President South Europe at Skydance,
highlighted the partnership’s potential to bring major international franchises, films and series to Spanish audiences, while supporting a new generation of creators and storytellers.

The agreement ensures the continued integration of HBO Max within the Movistar Plus platform, allowing subscribers to access its catalogue through the operator’s integrated entertainment offering. Subscribers will also be able to access the native HBO Max app directly by signing in with their credentials. The catalogue includes titles such as The Pitt, The Last of Us, House of the Dragon and The White Lotus, as well as established franchises including Friends, The Big Bang Theory and Harry Potter. The offering also features Warner Bros. and DC films, documentaries, true-crime productions and adult animation.

Movistar Plus and HBO Launch Joint Spanish Originals
One of the central pillars of the partnership is the launch of a new slate of productions under the Movistar Plus and HBO Originals label. The series will premiere simultaneously on Movistar Plus and HBO Max in Spain, as well as in key international markets where HBO Max operates.
The first two projects announced are: Veredicto, a Movistar Plus and HBO Original series produced in collaboration with Ikiru Films and Luminol Media and an untitled new series from Carles Porta and Los Moriarti. The project brings together Carles Porta and the creative team behind titles including Maspalomas, Marco and The Endless Trench.

Channel Renewals and On-Demand Services
The expanded agreement also secures the continuation of a selection of Skydance TV channels on Movistar Plus. The renewal covers Warner TV, TCM, Discovery, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, as well as the Cartoon Network video-on-demand service.
The agreement also renews the distribution of Warner Bros. Pictures’ theatrical releases and catalogue titles on Movistar Plus. Subscribers will continue to have access to a selection of the studio’s major releases and library titles. On the sports front, the partnership includes non-exclusive rights to the PGA Tour, the leading professional men’s golf circuit, from July 2026 through December 2027.
