The new spin-off season, which premiered last week, recorded market shares of 32.8% and 36% in the key demographic for its first two episodes, building on the success of the debut season earlier this year.
While the first season brought together Denmark's leading politicians during the election period, the new episodes coincide with the opening of the Danish parliamentary year and introduce a broader editorial approach. Each episode focuses on a major national issue, bringing politicians and ordinary citizens together in the Højskolen setting for open, constructive discussions.
The format aims to offer a more personal perspective on political debate, encouraging direct interaction between political figures and the public at a time of growing polarization. Its combination of factual entertainment, reality elements and political discussion has helped establish Højskolen as a recurring brand in TV 2's programming schedule.
Originally created by Belgian production company Bargoens and broadcaster VTM, The Political Assembly brings prominent political leaders together for an entire weekend of group discussions, one-on-one debates and personal revelations, offering viewers an insight into the people behind political positions.
The Danish version is hosted by political journalist Natasja Crone and produced by BBC Studios for TV 2, with international distribution handled by Be-Entertainment.
