Mediawan companies See-Saw Films and Miraculous Corp are partnering to co-develop and co-produce the first live-action television adaptation of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, bringing the globally successful animated franchise into a new format. The series is based on the animated show created by Thomas Astruc, Jeremy Zag and Nathanaël Bronn, and is being adapted by Emme Hoy. Designed to appeal to a broader and older audience while retaining the franchise’s established fanbase, the live-action series will explore the relationship between Marinette and Adrien from a new perspective. Set in a Paris that is both dark and romantic, the series will combine an emotionally driven love story with an expansive superhero narrative rooted in an ancient mythology of creation and destruction. The project is envisioned as a multi-season series.
Distributed by Mediawan Kids & Family in more than 150 countries, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is available through broadcasters and platforms including Disney Channel, Disney+, Netflix, Globo and TF1. Now in its sixth season, the series recently ranked first among more than 850 school-age titles tracked worldwide by Parrot Analytics. Season seven is scheduled to launch in late 2026. The franchise also has a substantial digital presence, with 54 million YouTube subscribers, more than 55 billion lifetime views and an average of 900 million monthly views. Its broader business spans consumer products, gaming, promotions and live experiences. Its audience includes a strong Gen Z following, with 82% of adult viewers and 60% of social media followers aged 16–24. The live-action adaptation aims to build on that cross-generational appeal, reconnecting with fans who have grown up with Marinette and Adrien while introducing their story to new audiences.
The series will be co-produced by See-Saw Films and Miraculous Corp. Maria Nicholson, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Simon Gillis and Ben Irving will executive produce for See-Saw Films, alongside Emme Hoy. Nicky Earnshaw will serve as co-producer for See-Saw Films. Mediawan Rights will handle worldwide sales.
“This project illustrates the strength of Mediawan’s international studio model: its ability to bring together renowned creative talent, leading production expertise and a shared ambition behind one of the world’s most popular animated franchises. The partnership between See-Saw Films and Miraculous Corp combines the complementary expertise of two Mediawan companies to open a new chapter for Miraculous and further expand this iconic franchise internationally”, said Elisabeth d’Arvieu, Mediawan’s Group Chief Content Officer and CEO of Mediawan Pictures.
“Miraculous has always been, at its heart, a story about the distance between who we are and who we let people see. Live action gives us the space to really feel that — to let it breathe, to let it hurt. At See-Saw, we’re aiming to build something with the emotional intimacy of a great romance and the scale of a genuinely epic superhero story. I think audiences are going to fall in love with these characters all over again”, said Maria Nicholson, Executive Producer, See-Saw Films.
“For more than a decade, Miraculous has connected with audiences around the world through characters and stories that inspire, entertain and resonate emotionally across generations. This is a defining next step for the franchise: for the first time, we are bringing Marinette and Adrien’s story into live action, in a bold new format designed both for the millions of fans who have grown up with them and for audiences discovering this extraordinary world for the first time. See-Saw Films and Emme Hoy bring an exceptional ability to create ambitious, emotionally sophisticated stories with genuine global appeal, making them the ideal creative partners for this exciting new chapter”, said Heath Kenny, Chief Content Officer, Miraculous Corp.
