Canale 5 will broadcast in prime time on Sunday, September 27 the TV movie My Name is Carlo (Il Mio Nome è Carlo) directed by Giacomo Campiotti and produced by Movie Magic International in co-production with RTI.
Starring Samuele Carrino as Carlo alongside Lucia Mascino, the film retraces the life of the Italian teenager who became known worldwide for combining a deeply rooted faith with a passion for computers, video games and football.

The story follows Carlo from childhood through the final days of his life, portraying him as an apparently ordinary teenager whose approach to faith and relationships gradually transforms the people around him.
Moving between the present and memories of his life, Il Mio Nome è Carlo explores his friendships, his attention to people on the margins of society and his belief that the Internet could be used as a tool to spread positive messages and create communities beyond geographical boundaries.

Among the characters whose lives intersect with Carlo’s is Rajesh, a young immigrant welcomed into the Acutis family home, as well as Carlo’s schoolmates, parents and the doctors and nurses who care for him during his illness. Through these relationships, the film focuses as much on Carlo’s impact on others as on his own personal journey.

Carlo’s life was cut short at the age of 15 by an aggressive form of leukaemia. Rather than ending there, however, the film follows how his story continued to spread internationally, particularly among younger generations drawn to the figure of a teenager whose spirituality coexisted naturally with technology and contemporary youth culture.
