Eagle Eye Drama has acquired the television rights to The Great Dictator, Matthew Sweet’s acclaimed biography of legendary British novelist Barbara Cartland, following the book’s publication by Hodder & Stoughton earlier this month.
The Great Dictator draws on years of research into the life and career of Cartland, one of the UK’s best-selling novelists. Known for her distinctive pink chiffon outfits and larger-than-life public persona, Cartland sold close to one billion copies of her novels in 38 languages, turning romantic fiction into a global publishing business.
