MIPCOM CANNES and global film and TV studio FIFTH SEASON have announced that Honey, the upcoming darkly comedic Cold War thriller from Sid Gentle Films, will make its world premiere at MIPCOM CANNES 2026. Produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd, part of BBC Studios, for BBC iPlayer, BBC One and ZDF, and distributed worldwide by FIFTH SEASON, the six-part series is set in 1980s East Berlin and follows an MI6 agent operating undercover amid a dangerous world of counterespionage, desire and shifting loyalties.

The world premiere will take place on Monday 12 October at 18:00 in the Grand Auditorium, giving MIPCOM delegates the opportunity to see the series ahead of its international launch. The screening will be followed by a Q&A featuring Ann Skelly (The Nevers, The Wheel of Time), Executive Producer Sally Woodward Gentle of Sid Gentle Films, Lead Writer and Executive Producer Emma Moran, and Jennifer Ebell, Executive Vice President, Television Distribution at FIFTH SEASON. Lucy Smith, Director of MIPCOM CANNES and MIPJUNIOR, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Honey to Cannes for its world premiere. Set in East Berlin in 1982, Honey centres on Martha (pronounced Marta), a 24-year-old MI6 deep-cover agent who becomes immersed in the city’s shadowy counterespionage world. Her mission takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself caught in a dangerous love triangle, turning an undercover operation into an increasingly personal game of risk and desire. The cast is led by Ann Skelly (House of Guinness, The Nevers), Nate Mann (Masters of the Air, Licorice Pizza), Jannis Niewöhner (Munich: The Edge of War, Napoleon) and Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power).
