Sphere Abacus has acquired 100% of digital distribution specialists Rocket Rights/Rights Booster, which will now operate as Rocket Booster, a Sphere Abacus company. The acquisition strengthens Sphere Abacus’ digital strategy, with Rocket Booster taking the lead on the expansion of multi-platform digital and social media distribution across the combined companies’ catalogues. Traditional television and licensing activities will continue to be handled by the Sphere Abacus sales team.

Rocket Booster will be led by former COO Cat Davie, who becomes Managing Director, while founder and former CEO Matthew Frank takes on the role of Executive Director. Both will report to Sphere Abacus Managing Director Jonathan Ford. The deal brings together Rocket Rights/Rights Booster’s digital distribution expertise and relationships with Sphere Abacus’ international catalogue, expanding the group’s capabilities in a market that continues to play an increasingly important role in content distribution.
