Rainmaker adds Crash Course to international drama slate
UK distributor Rainmaker Content has acquired the international distribution rights to the first and second seasons of Crash Course (“Casse-Gueule”), the restaurant dramedy airing on Bell Media’s premium streaming service Crave. The eight-part series is an original project from Montreal-based Duo Productions and was part-financed by Rainmaker in collaboration with German production company Bravado Equity. Season two, which rolled out on Crave in February, was commissioned shortly after the first season aired and is currently in production, with delivery scheduled for spring 2027.

Set against Quebec’s thriving food scene, Crash Course follows visionary chef Clovis Lambert (Émile Schneider) as he risks everything to open his own restaurant, Crash Course (“Casse-Gueule”). He is supported by his explosive sous-chef Ben (Zouheir Zerhouni) and brilliant sommelier and friend/lover Manon (Mylène Mackay). But kitchen rivalries, mounting financial pressures and personal tensions threaten to derail the venture. Things become even more complicated when Zoé (Estelle Fournier), Clovis’ estranged 18-year-old daughter, suddenly enters his life. The series explores the human cost of passion and ambition, as Clovis is forced to balance the roles of father, lover, business leader and friend while pursuing his dream of running a restaurant.
Crash Course has also been shortlisted for this month’s Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, France.

Hugo D’Astous, President of Duo Productions said “There’s an endless appetite for content set in the gastronomic world and Crash Course takes that fascination with food and seasons it with family drama, fun, romance and Montreal's vibrant restaurant scene. We believe that’s an irresistible proposition for audiences around the world.”
Greg Philips, Co-CEO and founder of Rainmaker Content, added: “Crash Course has all the ingredients of a highly exportable dramedy: a distinctive world, compelling characters, high emotional stakes and a setting that feels both specific and universal. A restaurant kitchen is a rich dramatic environment, where ambition, creativity, pressure and personality collide. What sets this series apart is that it goes beyond the kitchen to explore family, relationships and the consequences of pursuing your dreams at any cost. We look forward to bringing it to buyers around the world.”
Eric Welbers, CEO and founder of Bravado Equity, said: “From the moment we discovered Crash Course we were struck by how local and international it feels at the same time. We are thrilled to have partnered with Duo Productions and Rainmaker on such a distinctive series and look forward to seeing it reach audiences far beyond Quebec.”
