Banijay Takes Let’s Play Ball to Finland With STAR Channel
Banijay Entertainment has announced that high-octane comedy format Let’s Play Ball is heading to Finland, following its breakout success in the Netherlands and French-Canada. Banijay Finland will produce the format’s third international version for STAR Channel, part of The Walt Disney Company Nordic. Hosted by Pilvi Hämäläinen, the eight-part series will take the competition across Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Kuopio and Oulu.
Originally co-developed by EndemolShine Nederland, part of Banijay Benelux, Talpa Studios and Signal.Stream, and co-produced by EndemolShine Nederland and Signal.Stream for SBS6, Let’s Play Ball is a physical comedy gameshow that began as a digital-first pilot on YouTube via StukTV.

Following its online success, the format evolved into a primetime television hit, with two celebrity-led teams racing to transport a gigantic ball across a variety of terrains, from busy city streets to rivers and the countryside. Along the way, they tackle physical puzzles and escalating twists, turning a seemingly simple challenge into a chaotic test of quick thinking, teamwork and determination.

Tatu Ferchen, CEO, Banijay Finland, said: “Let’s Play Ball is the kind of format that immediately captures your attention. As producers, it’s exciting to work with a concept that began life on YouTube and has proven success in a key market like the Netherlands. The scale, unpredictability and physical comedy make it highly entertaining and a great fit for the audience at STAR Channel.”
Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations, Banijay Entertainment, added: “Let’s Play Ball delivers a bold visual identity, standout comedy and fiercely entertaining competition. What’s especially exciting is its journey from a digital-first series to a major international format. Following its success in the Netherlands and French-Canada, it’s fantastic to see the format gathering international momentum, with Finland becoming its latest destination.”
