CJ ENM’s Love Transit Expands in Japan With New 35+ Dating Reality Series
CJ ENM’s Japanese adaptation of its hit dating reality format EXchange is getting a new installment, with Love Transit 35+ set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video Japan on October 22. The new series introduces a Japan-original concept to the franchise, bringing together participants aged 35 and over and expanding the format’s relationship dynamics by featuring former married couples for the first time.

Based on EXchange, a TVING Original from CJ ENM, Love Transit follows former couples who move into a shared house after breaking up. As they revisit their past relationships, the participants also have the opportunity to explore new romantic connections. The Korean original has remained popular through its fourth season, establishing itself as one of TVING’s flagship dating reality franchises. In Japan, the format was adapted as Love Transit, with three seasons produced to date.

Love Transit 35+ brings five former couples together for approximately one month, including couples who were previously married. Having experienced major life changes such as marriage, divorce, family and career transitions, the participants enter the experience at a different stage of life from those featured in the previous Japanese series. The new installment will explore their unresolved feelings toward former partners, the possibility of new relationships and the questions they face about the next chapter of their lives.

With three seasons of Love Transit already produced in Japan, the launch of Love Transit 35+ further demonstrates how CJ ENM’s EXchange format can be localized and reimagined for a specific market. Sebastian Kim, Head of the Content Business Unit at CJ ENM, said: “We are pleased to see Love Transit continuing with new series in Japan and introducing a new concept that reflects local audiences and market trends. The new series shows how the core idea of EXchange can evolve in different ways while staying true to what makes the format unique.” He added, “We believe this flexibility is one of the key strengths of CJ ENM’s IP, allowing each market to create stories that feel relevant and engaging for local audiences.”
