Calinos Entertainment will officially launch the Turkish drama Ugly at MIPCOM 2026 with a special programme featuring the series’ leading cast members and directors in Cannes.

Produced by 25 Film and broadcast on Star TV in Türkiye, Ugly is one of the company’s key titles for the international market and will be a major highlight of Calinos Entertainment’s MIPCOM slate.
Actors Çağlar Ertuğrul, who plays Kadir, Derya Pınar Ak, who stars as Meryem, and Olgun Toker, who portrays Ferhat, will attend the launch alongside directors Burcu Alptekin, known internationally for Golden Boy, and Merve Çolak.

On Tuesday, October 13, the cast and directors will meet the international press during a dedicated conference focused on the story, characters and creative process behind the production, as well as the series’ growing international profile. Later that evening, Calinos Entertainment will host a special gathering bringing together the Ugly team, international buyers, media representatives and television industry professionals.

Distributed worldwide by Calinos Entertainment, the drama has already been licensed across several regions and continues to attract interest from international buyers. The series is also scheduled to premiere soon in Dubai and Romania.The cast includes Başak Gümülcinelioğlu, Baran Bölükbaşı, Olgun Toker, Nur Sürer and Çetin Tekindor, alongside lead actors Çağlar Ertuğrul and Derya Pınar Ak.

Ugly follows Meryem Tunalı, who loses her family at a young age and is raised by her mother’s friend, Cennet, together with Cennet’s son Kadir and his two sisters. Mocked as a child because of her short hair and worn-out clothes, Meryem grows into a beautiful young woman, but her deep love for Kadir remains unchanged.
Years later, Kadir unexpectedly asks her to marry him. However, he is no longer the person she once knew, and the proposal sets in motion an emotional journey shaped by love, ambition, power and long-buried secrets.
