Something Special has been awarded the prestigious Little Penguin Program from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT), a funding initiative designed to support the international expansion of innovative startups with high growth potential. The Little Penguin Program provides financial support and guarantees to startups established within the past seven years that demonstrate outstanding creativity and strong growth prospects. Its name reflects the idea that early-stage companies, like young penguins, can grow into global market leaders.
CEO, Founder and Executive Producer Jin Woo Hwang said: “Something Special is honored that KODIT has recognized our company’s hard work, vast potential, and the fact that we are respected around the world by awarding us the prestigious KODIT fund. We have two shows currently in production for this Fall which will benefit greatly. Both are available as formats: Unforgettable Duet the heartwarming reality singing series about dementia & canine reality competition The Underdogs: Top Dog Project.”
Co-CEO and Chief Business Officer InSoon Kim added: “We are thrilled to be able to build on our successes to reach the next global level with help from the KODIT fund and we give credit to our hardworking team for this honor.”
The funding will help support the international rollout of two original formats currently in production for a Fall launch. Unforgettable Duet is an emotional unscripted format that follows dementia patients and their family members on a journey to reconnect through music. Each episode features a renowned Korean artist, known as the Memory Singer, who guides the family through cherished memories before joining them for a moving musical tribute.
Meanwhile, The Underdogs: Top Dog Project is a transformational competition that pairs rescued dogs with people who have overcome life’s hardships. Under the guidance of expert trainers, each human-canine team faces increasingly demanding challenges that test their resilience, teamwork and emotional bond. More than a competition, the format delivers an uplifting story of healing, second chances and redemption.
