Prime Video Secures International Rights to New Baywatch Reboot
Prime Video has acquired the multi-territory international rights to the upcoming Baywatch reboot from Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, as well as the complete library of the original series, in a landmark agreement covering Europe, Latin America, Canada, Turkey, India, and other international markets. The deal includes Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Canada, Latin America, and India, where the new action-drama will premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
As part of the agreement, viewers in those territories will also gain access to the entire original franchise, including all nine seasons of Baywatch and both seasons of Baywatch Hawaii, allowing audiences to revisit the iconic series before the arrival of the reboot.

The new 12-episode series follows a new generation of lifeguards patrolling Southern California’s beaches, combining large-scale rescue missions with high-stakes drama, personal relationships, and the franchise’s signature beachside action. The cast is led by Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, alongside Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader. Original cast member David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, while Livvy Dunne joins in a recurring role as Grace. The reboot will also feature guest appearances from original "Baywatch" stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, and Kelly Packard, reprising their respective roles.

Originally premiering in 1989, Baywatch became one of television's biggest global phenomena, airing in more than 200 countries and attracting more than one billion weekly viewers at its peak. The series starred David Hasselhoff and helped launch the careers of performers including Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa, and Yasmine Bleeth. The reboot aims to preserve the franchise’s signature mix of action, romance, and beachside heroics while introducing a contemporary cast and storylines designed for today’s global audience.

Commenting on the agreement, Michela Di Mondo, EVP Distribution, Canada & International at Fremantle, said: "We're thrilled to be partnering with Prime Video to bring the new Baywatch to audiences across multiple territories, while also giving fans the opportunity to revisit the original series they know and love. Few shows have made as big a splash or had such lasting cultural impact as Baywatch, and this landmark deal marks a significant moment for one of the industry's most eagerly anticipated launches. The excitement surrounding the show has been incredible, and we can't wait for audiences to see what's in store. This is just the beginning of what we believe will be an exciting new chapter for Baywatch."
Co-produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, the series will premiere on FOX in January 2027 before launching on Prime Video later in the year across the international territories included in the agreement. The reboot is led by Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted), who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. McG also directs the premiere episode. FOX Entertainment Global will handle domestic distribution, while Fremantle is responsible for international sales.
