Big Brother Returns to Finland as Banijay Entertainment Launches New MTV Era
Banijay Entertainment's global hit Big Brother is making its long-awaited return to Finland this autumn, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the iconic reality format on MTV. The local adaptation will be produced by Banijay Finland. More than 25 years after its debut, Big Brother continues to demonstrate its worldwide appeal. In 2025 alone, the format aired in 27 countries across 35 productions, reinforcing its position as one of television's most successful unscripted franchises.

According to Tatu Ferchen, CEO of Banijay Finland, the show's enduring popularity lies in its ability to capture authentic human relationships. “Big Brother's popularity around the world is at an all-time high. The format has returned to its roots and original premise, exploring what happens when strangers get to know one another and live together without any connection to the outside world. Big Brother reflects the times we live in, revealing who we are, how we live, and the issues and the conversations that matter most to us right now. That is what makes it feel so relevant today.”
The new Finnish season will once again follow a group of strangers living together in the Big Brother house, completely isolated from the outside world. Throughout the competition, housemates will face weekly challenges designed to test their creativity, resilience and ability to work together, while viewers witness the friendships, conflicts and personal journeys that emerge under extraordinary circumstances.

MTV's Director of Content and Channels, Iina Eloranta, highlighted the format's continued appeal across platforms: “Big Brother is a multi-platform pop culture phenomenon and a unique union of streaming and linear channels, offering an exceptional viewing experience. Its global success demonstrates how the format is still relevant and compelling as ever, making this the perfect time for Big Brother Finland to return home to MTV.”
The series will feature daily highlight episodes, 24/7 live streaming from inside the house, and weekly live eviction shows, giving audiences continuous access to the contestants' experiences. The new season aims to showcase genuine human interaction beyond the carefully curated reality of social media, reinforcing the format's reputation for capturing authentic emotions and relationships.
