Movistar Plus' El Ser Querido Continues Festival Momentum with Atlàntida Mallorca Finale and Toronto Selection
Rodrigo Sorogoyen's El Ser Querido, an Original Movistar Plus film, continues to build international momentum following its acclaimed premiere in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival. After closing the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, the feature is now set to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, further expanding its global festival journey. The film, directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and co-written with Isabel Peña, served as the closing title of the Mallorca-based festival, where the gala was attended by Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain.

The presentation in Mallorca brought together Sorogoyen, Peña, cast members Javier Bardem, Victoria Luengo, Raúl Arévalo and Melina Matthews, along with producers Nacho Lavilla and Eduardo Villanueva from Caballo Films, and Clara Gavilán, Head of Content Marketing at Movistar Plus. Through its presence at major international festivals, Movistar Plus continues to strengthen the global profile of its original productions, reaffirming its commitment to premium storytelling and projects with international appeal.

El Ser Querido will be released theatrically in Spain on August 26 through A Contracorriente Films before launching exclusively on Movistar Plus following its cinema run. Starring Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo, the film follows an acclaimed film director and his daughter—an unsuccessful actress—who reunite to make a movie together after years of estrangement, forcing them to confront a painful past neither has been willing to address. The supporting cast includes Raúl Arévalo, Marina Foïs, Mourad Ouani, Raúl Prieto, Melina Matthews, Laura Birn, Nuria Prims, Pablo Gómez-Pando, Pepa Gracia and Malena Villa.

El Ser Querido
is an Original Movistar Plus production, co-produced with Caballo Films and El Ser Querido AIE, and in France with Le Pacte, in association with Canal+. The project received financing from Spain's Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and Creative Europe MEDIA, with additional support from the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) and the Community of Madrid. International sales are handled by Goodfellas.
