A Season of Records
According to figures released by Cairo Communication, the season just concluded (September 14, 2025 – June 13, 2026) delivered the network's strongest ratings ever, extending four consecutive years of growth. The whole La7 system reached 36.5 million Italians a month across TV and digital, while the flagship channel held 6.1% of the prime-time audience (about 1.2 million viewers), confirming its spot as Italy's third most-watched network behind only Rai 1 and Canale 5, with particularly strong numbers among university-educated and upper-income viewers.
La7 Cinema, the network's channel 29 offering that launched on October 1, 2025, also posted its best results yet within months of debuting: 0.6% in total day (+42%) and 0.8% in the evening slot (+27%), with 2.6 million daily contacts (+45%) and 34.7 million cumulative contacts since launch — roughly a million more than the previous season.
On digital, La7's platforms (websites, mobile and TV apps, YouTube and social media) averaged 5.2 million daily video views between September 2025 and June 2026, up 18% year-on-year. Video contacts on the La7 Connected TV app rose 58%, while the mobile app grew 50%. La7 says it is the Italian broadcaster growing fastest in time spent on digital devices (+23%) across on-demand and live viewing, ranking second only to Dazn for live streaming with an average session of 27.5 minutes. The network's social channels — Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok combined, surpassed 10 million followers (+19%), with interactions up 34%, while podcast listens across all platforms approached 10 million, up 24%.
The Faces and Shows of the New Season
Enrico Mentana continues to anchor TgLa7, hosting the 8pm edition Monday through Friday, alongside the network's special editions and "Mentana marathons" that have become appointment viewing during major political events. Lilli Gruber returns with Otto e Mezzo in the access prime-time slot, while the week's prime-time line-up remains largely unchanged: Corrado Augias with La Torre di Babele on Mondays, Giovanni Floris with diMartedì on Tuesdays, Aldo Cazzullo with Una Giornata Particolare on Wednesdays, Corrado Formigli with Piazzapulita on Thursdays, Diego Bianchi's Propaganda Live on Fridays, and Massimo Gramellini's In Altre Parole on Saturdays. Sunday's access slot again belongs to Marianna Aprile and Luca Telese with In Onda. Daytime staples Omnibus, Coffee Break, L'Aria che Tira and Tagadà all return, alongside the culture strand La Torre di Babele Doc and the early-evening crime program IgnotoX with Pino Rinaldi.
The headline new arrival is scripted drama: for the first time on Italian general-interest television, La7 will air M – Il Figlio del Secolo, the series adapted from Antonio Scurati's Strega Prize-winning novel about Mussolini's rise, written by Stefano Bises and Davide Serino, starring Luca Marinelli, and produced by Sky Studios and Fremantle's The Apartment under a new agreement with Sky.
New non-fiction specials include a three-part investigation into the P2 Masonic lodge and its founder Licio Gelli, fronted by Fabrizio Gifuni; two Ezio Mauro specials on the Capitol Hill riot and the political fallout of Donald Trump's presidency; and Piazzapulita 100, a run of episodes dedicated to major investigations. The network's in-house "La7 Originals" slate, including the series House of Trump and coverage of the Epstein files, rounds out the specials offering. Also arriving are the Italian television premieres of The Apprentice, tracing Donald Trump's early business career in New York, and Mr. Nobody Against Putin, the award-winning documentary that won the 2026 Oscar for Best Documentary and the Special Jury Prize at Sundance in 2025.
La7 Cinema and the Launch of La7 Play
Since its October 2025 debut, La7 Cinema has built its identity around themed programming strands: the thriller-focused All'ultimo respiro, the actress retrospective Dive, the romantic-comedy strand Happy Days, the noir season Giallo & Nero, the adventure-epic strand Super Storie, and the classics showcase Hollywood Hollywood!, alongside a Saturday slot dedicated to the James Bond franchise and Ultramondi, covering science fiction and horror.
Meanwhile, La7 Play, the network's new streaming platform, is set to relaunch this autumn across mobile, web and smart-TV apps, with a redesigned viewing experience and a mix of live and on-demand content, original productions and exclusive digital-only titles.
Summer Programming
La7's news and current-affairs offering continues through the summer with Omnibus, Coffee Break and L'Aria che Tira in daytime, and a seven-day-a-week edition of In Onda with Marianna Aprile and Luca Telese, doubling up in prime time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Palio di Siena remains a summer highlight, with commentary from Pierluigi Pardo and Giovanni Mazzini and live coverage from Piazza del Campo on July 2 and August 16. Sports coverage also includes live broadcast of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup on July 12.
