ITV has commissioned 35 new episodes across its Millionaire franchise, including a second run of Millionaire Hot Seat and an additional season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, following the successful launch of the spin-off earlier this year. The broadcaster has ordered 20 new episodes of Millionaire Hot Seat alongside 15 more episodes of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Both series are produced by Belfast-based Stellify Media, the Sony Pictures Television-backed producer behind the franchise.
Hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Millionaire Hot Seat premiered on ITV in January 2026, introducing a faster-paced version of the classic quiz format in which contestants compete for the coveted Hot Seat while facing constant pressure from challengers waiting to replace them. The debut season attracted 4.3 million viewers for its launch episode and averaged 3.7 million viewers in total viewing, including repeat broadcasts and viewing beyond 28 days. It also ranked as ITVX's third most-watched entertainment series of the year, behind Britain’s Got Talent and The Masked Singer.
The recommission follows another strong performance for the franchise, with the opening episode of the latest season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? becoming the show's highest-rated episode of the year after featuring a £1 million winner. Production on the new episodes will begin later this year ahead of their launch on ITV and ITVX.
“The Millionaire brand continues to deliver for ITV audiences and Millionaire Hot Seat has brought an exciting new energy to the format. The combination of Jeremy Clarkson’s hosting and the high-pressure gameplay has proved a winning formula, so we’re delighted to be bringing both Millionaire Hot Seat and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? back for more episodes,” said Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment, Reality & Daytime Commissioning at ITV.
Matthew Worthy, Co-CEO of Stellify Media, added: “Hot Seat adds a completely new dynamic to the Millionaire format. The pressure of the clock and the tactical ‘Pass’ create real jeopardy for contestants and viewers alike. We’re thrilled ITV audiences have embraced it and look forward to raising the stakes again in series two.”
