Keshet International has secured a seventh licensing agreement for its children’s music talent format Master Class, with ALPHA Cyprus commissioning a local adaptation titled Music School for its upcoming television season. Originally created by Yoav Tzafir, Tamira Yardeni and Zvika Hadar for Keshet 12, Master Class is a feel-good talent format that places children in a supportive music school environment where they perform well-known songs and develop their skills through mentorship from leading artists. The format is distinguished by its non-elimination structure and focus on positive feedback, aiming to foster creativity, confidence and artistic growth.
The Cypriot version, Music School, will build on the original concept with a local adaptation that incorporates Cypriot and Greek repertoire alongside international hits. Aspiring young performers will be invited to apply ahead of production, with the series set to premiere in the upcoming broadcast season.
“With no eliminations and only positive feedback, Master Class is a family-friendly format that celebrates the joy of music, showcasing the innocence, courage and fresh interpretations that make these young performers so captivating. We are delighted to see this format being adapted by ALPHA Cyprus and have no doubt Cypriot audiences will adore watching the children flourish as they get to follow their dreams,” said Salomé Peillon, Acting MD of Distribution at Keshet International.
“We are delighted to welcome Master Class to Cyprus and to the ALPHA family as Music School. ALPHA Cyprus continues to invest in strong partnerships with leading international format distributors, like Keshet International, enriching our schedule with high-quality entertainment,” said Petros Petrou, CEO of ALPHA Cyprus.
Andreas Vasiliou, Television Entertainment Manager at ALPHA Cyprus, added: “Music School is a heartwarming, exciting and deeply human format that gives children from across Cyprus the opportunity to showcase their musical talent through an internationally recognized television brand. We look forward to sharing these unique musical moments with audiences during the upcoming television season.”
Master Class became a breakout hit in Israel, achieving a 48% average audience share and ranking as the country’s highest-rated talent show during its run. The format has now been adapted in six territories prior to Cyprus, including Hungary (three seasons on TV2), Uruguay (three seasons on Teledoce), China (three seasons on BTV), Greece (Mega), Slovenia (Planet TV) and Georgia (Rustavi). In Hungary, the show regularly led weekly ratings, while in China it also gained strong traction on social media platform Weibo.
Keshet International also distributes additional formats including Masters of Dance, adapted in Germany by RTL and Tresor, and Rising Star, the singing competition that has been used as Israel’s Eurovision selection format and continues to be a key talent pipeline for the contest.
