Taiwan Scores Major Wins at Global OTT Awards
Taiwanese talent and productions took centre stage at the 2026 Global OTT Awards in Busan, South Korea, with actor TSENG Jing Hua winning Best Lead Actor and fantasy drama Agent From Above receiving the award for Best Visual Effects. Organised with the support of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), the event also featured Taiwanese stars Vivian SUNG, TSENG Jing Hua, Suri LIN and CHIANG Chi as award presenters, highlighting Taiwan’s growing profile in the international content industry.
“The four actors on that stage are proof of what Taiwanese talent can achieve internationally,” said TAICCA Chairperson Sue Wang. “Behind every appearance like this is TAICCA's ongoing work — bringing together resources, identifying the right markets, and actively placing our most talented performers where the world can see them.”

Vivian SUNG served on the Global OTT Awards jury for the first time this year. The actress, whose credits include Netflix hit 96 Minutes and Taiwan-Korea co-production thriller The Secret House, said the most memorable entries were those that conveyed authenticity and emotional resonance.
Suri LIN returned to the ceremony as a previous winner after earning the Best Newcomer prize in 2025 for Born for the Spotlight. She presented this year’s Best Newcomer award alongside Korean actor Chung Su Bin and continues to expand her international profile following her role in NHK drama Queen of Mars.

TSENG Jing Hua secured the Best Lead Actor award for Had I Not Seen the Sun, prevailing over a competitive field that included Korean star Hyun Bin and Japanese actor Ryoma TAKEUCHI. Accepting the honour from Vivian SUNG, he said: “There are still so many possibilities on this path — never give up on the art.” His upcoming projects include international productions That Burning House and Japanese feature Sinsin and the Mouse.
CHIANG Chi, who made her television debut in Had I Not Seen the Sun, was nominated for Best Newcomer (Female) and joined TSENG Jing Hua in presenting the Best Visual Effects award to Agent From Above. The win marked a significant achievement for visual effects director Tomi Kuo and Taiwan’s creative and technical production community.

Taiwanese productions also received recognition beyond the acting categories. City Founding Pioneer earned nominations for Best Asian Contents and Best Writer, underscoring the international appeal of Taiwan’s scripted storytelling. TAICCA said it will continue leveraging major global industry events to promote Taiwanese talent and content, strengthening the territory’s presence in the international television and streaming marketplace.
