Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) is bringing its long-running factual entertainment format Hello Goodbye to Belgium, following a commission from Belgian public broadcaster VRT. Created by WBITVP label BlazHoffski, the format has aired for 25 seasons in the Netherlands and generated more than 500 episodes worldwide. The airport-based series now counts 14 international adaptations across markets including Canada, Brazil, France and Italy.
Produced by WBITVP Belgium, the Belgian version will air on VRT 1 and VRT MAX. Filmed at Brussels Airport and hosted by actor, television and radio presenter Manu Van Acker, the series will follow travellers passing through the terminal, uncovering the personal stories behind their arrivals and departures. Set in a busy airport environment, Hello Goodbye focuses on the emotional moments that accompany travel, from reunions and farewells to unexpected encounters and life-changing journeys.
Manu Van Acker comments: “The airport is a wonderful place where so many stories can be found. Everyone arriving or departing is there for a reason. Moreover, Brussels Airport is the centre of Europe. I am therefore really looking forward to gathering stories from people and taking a peek into their lives. Every new conversation is a surprise; you never know what is coming, and that is what makes Hello Goodbye so exciting.”
André Renaud, GVP Format & Finished Sales at WBITVP, said: “Hello Goodbye is a format I’ve always had a real affection for because of the way it uncovers the powerful stories in the simple act of saying goodbye or welcoming a loved one home. I remember watching the UK version when it originally aired and am delighted that our talented team at WBITVP Belgium will be working with VRT to capture those moments for Belgian viewers later this year.”
