Dutch Reality Format A.S.S. – Anti Survival Show Renewed After Record-Breaking First Season on KIJK
John de Mol’s Talpa Studios and Signal.Stream’s reality format A.S.S. – Anti Survival Show has been recommissioned for a second season by Dutch broadcaster NET5, following a highly successful debut on streamer KIJK and strong linear performance on NET5. The renewal was confirmed just one week after the end of the first season.
The format has quickly established itself as one of the standout reality launches in the Dutch market, becoming the most-streamed series ever on KIJK. On linear television, it premiered as NET5’s strongest format debut of the year and went on to perform solidly in late primetime. The show also demonstrated significant growth through catch-up viewing, increasing its audience by more than 140% compared to live figures.

Beyond ratings, A.S.S. – Anti Survival Show generated strong social media engagement, building an active fan community and extending its reach beyond traditional broadcast platforms. The format places outspoken reality personalities in a stripped-back survival environment, dropping them on a deserted beach with minimal resources while a luxury yacht remains anchored offshore. Contestants compete through physical challenges, strategic gameplay and shifting alliances, progressing from survival conditions to luxury while battling for a cash prize and the title of ultimate “anti-survivor”.

Bastiaan van Dalen, Channel Head of NET5: “Launching a successful new reality format has never been harder in today’s fragmented media landscape. To see Anti Survival Show become one of NET5’s and KIJK’s strongest launches in recent years is a fantastic result. The format has all the ingredients we’re looking for in modern reality: a simple premise that consistently generates conflict, combined with a visual world that audiences instantly understand. The strong response across television, streaming and social media gives us great confidence in the future of the format, and we can’t wait to welcome A.S.S. back to NET5 for a second season.”
Wouter van der Pauw, Signal.Stream’s founder: “From day one, we believed there was something funny and irresistible about taking people who love luxury and putting them in a place where absolutely nothing is taken care of. What surprised us most was how quickly viewers connected with the relationships, rivalries and drama that followed. The yacht became much more than a prize; it became an obsession. Seeing audiences embrace the format this quickly makes us incredibly excited for a next season.”
