Fresh off a successful showcase at NEM Dubrovnik, Atresmedia Sales is accelerating the European footprint of its hit daily drama Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom). Spain’s most-watched TV series has locked in key acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe, landing on Romania’s Happy Channel (part of Antena TV Group) and Poland’s TVP Play, where episodes are already being rolled out sequentially.
The new European agreements build on the fiction format's strong international track record, which already includes LatAm and Brazil via HBO Max, TV3 in Latvia and Lithuania, and multiple broadcasters across the Middle East. Taking advantage of this momentum, Romania’s Antena TV Group has also doubled down on Atresmedia’s scripted catalog by picking up two of its most renowned heritage dramas: La Cocinera de Castamar (The Cook of Castamar) and El Tiempo entre Costuras (The Time in Between).
Concurrently, Atresmedia Sales has closed a premium content package deal in Bulgaria with BTV. The broadcaster has secured standout contemporary titles for its platform, including the highly anticipated ¿A Qué Estás Esperando? (What Are You Waiting For?) and the youth-focused franchise extension FOQ: La Nueva Generación (FoQ: The New Generation).
The timing aligns perfectly with the conclusion of NEM Dubrovnik (June 8–11), where the Spanish studio’s sales arm presented its latest catalog highlights. High-concept projects such as 33 Días (33 Days), La Nena (The Girl – the third installment of The Gypsy Bride franchise), and the ambitious scripted project Las Hijas de la Criada (The Maid’s Daughters) spiked significant interest among international buyers and platforms during the market. Through these multi-territory volume and format deals, Atresmedia consolidates its position as a leading powerhouse for Spanish-language fiction in the global marketplace.
