Sphere Abacus Boosts International Slate with Three Night Train Media Acquisitions
Sphere Abacus has acquired international distribution rights to three new titles from Night Train Media, further strengthening the companies’ ongoing partnership. The deal includes worldwide rights excluding the UK and Ireland for The Hairdresser Mysteries and Ian Fleming and the Curse of James Bond, while rights to The Trio exclude the Nordics and the Netherlands.

Produced by Mill Bay Media for the BBC, The Hairdresser Mysteries (6x60’) stars Sally Phillips in a mystery drama set in a northern English village, where a local hairdresser becomes entangled in murder investigations through the gossip shared in her salon chair. The cast also includes Charlotte Jordan and Ben Castle-Gibb.
The Trio (6x30’), based on the bestselling novel by Johanna Hedman, is produced by SF Studios for SkyShowtime. The drama explores love, desire and memory through the story of a man revisiting a passionate relationship from his youth. The cast includes Felix Sandman, August Wittgenstein, Seth Manteus, Nina Zanjani and Rebecka Harper.
Meanwhile, Ian Fleming and the Curse of James Bond (1x91’ / 2x45’) is directed by Adam Low and produced by Embankment Films and Lone Star Productions for Sky Arts. The documentary examines the life and legacy of Ian Fleming, combining archive footage with contributions from Ralph Fiennes, William Boyd, Kate Mosse, Nicholas Shakespeare and Marlon James, alongside readings by Helena Bonham Carter.

The new acquisitions join a broader catalogue of Night Train Media titles represented by Sphere Abacus, including Deadline, Catch Me A Killer, Vikings: The Rise and Fall, Conquistadors: The Rise and Fall and Missile From The East.

Herbert L. Kloiber, CEO, Night Train Media commented: “Following the recent restructures with Night Train Media, we are excited to be working once again with Sphere Abacus to bring both our new and existing series to the international market. Their strong track record and global reach make them the perfect distribution partner.”
Sphere Abacus’ Managing Director, Jonathan Ford added: “We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Night Train Media. Their commitment and creative vision for high-quality productions embody the type of programming we represent.”
