International Emmy-winning producer Silver Reel has partnered with Sphere Abacus, Sky, SRF and ARD Degeto on new English-language drama The Death of Sherlock Holmes, starring Rafe Spall and Deleila Piasko. Set for a 2027 premiere, the series explores the untold years between Sherlock Holmes’ apparent death at Reichenbach Falls in 1891 and his reappearance in 1894, expanding on the iconic characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle.

The drama was created by Claudia Bluemhuber, André Küttel and Pierre Monnard, with scripts by Küttel and Simone Schmid. Production is already underway, with Monnard and Bluemhuber directing. Set in the Swiss Alps, the story follows a mysterious Englishman discovered barely alive in an icy mountain stream by a local woman and her son. Suffering from amnesia, the stranger becomes embroiled in a murder investigation as fragments of his memory slowly reveal a hidden connection to one of literature’s most legendary detectives.

Silver Reel is producing the Swiss-German-Belgian co-production with Sky Switzerland, SRF, ARD Degeto and Umedia, while Sphere Abacus will handle international distribution. Sky has secured exclusive broadcast rights in the UK and Ireland, with the series also set to stream on Sky in Switzerland and Germany.
