The American Film Market (AFM) has unveiled its first-ever unifying theme for the 2026 edition: The New Global Screen Economy, positioning this year’s event around the transformation of the global content business. The 47th edition of AFM will run from November 10-15 in Los Angeles, with headquarters at the Fairmont Century Plaza and screenings hosted at AMC Century City 15.
Produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), the market will use the theme as a framework across its programming, partnerships and on-site activities, focusing on changes in financing, production, distribution models, emerging technologies and audience behavior.
AFM said 90 exhibitors have already confirmed participation seven months ahead of the market, highlighting continued momentum for the Los Angeles-based event and reinforcing its role as a key hub for the international film and TV business. Confirmed exhibitors include AGC Studios, Anton, Arclight Films, Artist View Entertainment, The Asylum, Beta Cinema, Blue Fox Entertainment, Charades, Cornerstone Films, Epic Pictures, Film Mode Entertainment, Gaumont, Highland Film Group, Kinology, Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Mister Smith, Myriad Pictures, NEON, Protagonist Pictures, StudioCanal, Studio TF1, Unifrance, Voltage Pictures and XYZ Films, among others.
Jackie Brenneman, president and CEO of IFTA, said: “Our business is at an inflection point, and we can’t move forward by looking backward. We need to take a more deliberate approach and focus on creating new opportunities. That is a central role AFM plays." She added: “With ‘The New Global Screen Economy,’ we are creating a framework for the full spectrum of the industry to come together, align, and shape what comes next.”
AFM 2026 will also introduce additional enhancements to the market experience, with further details set to be announced in the coming months.
