The news about the comeback of the iconic brand was published by several magazines. 145 years after the publication of the iconic heroine created by Johanna Spyri is set to return to the screen with a new face. The role of Heidi will be played by emerging Swiss actress Neah Hefti, who confirmed the news through her official Instagram profile.
The project is conceived as a high-end international series, produced in collaboration with DCM Switzerland and Gaumont. In Germany, the production is supported by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Motion Picture Fund, while in Switzerland it is funded by the Teleproduktions-Fonds.
The liveaction series will be aired on RTL and SRF in 2027. According to several local magazine, filming is due this month in Val Bregaglia, Canton Graubunden, in south eastern Switzerland, but also near Casaccia and Soglio. The new series will not only recount the timeless adventures of the young shepherdess in the Swiss Alps, but also her journey to adulthood, according to the Swiss public broadcaster SRF.
