CBC and BBC Northern Ireland have greenlit Committed (10x30), a new romantic comedy series starring Dustin Milligan and Diona Doherty. The series will be globally distributed by FOX Entertainment Global. Produced by Cameron Pictures and Fabel Productions, filming is currently underway in County Down, with additional shooting in Hamilton. The series is set to premiere on CBC and its free streaming platform CBC Gem in winter 2027, with a BBC Northern Ireland launch expected around the same time.

Committed follows Peter Hooley (Milligan), a recently divorced Canadian accountant who falls in love with Northern Irish woman Julie Johnston (Doherty) after a whirlwind weekend in Toronto. Determined to pursue the relationship, he travels to Northern Ireland—only to find himself in an eccentric rural village far removed from his expectations.
The ensemble cast also includes Ian McElhinney, Dan Gordon, Muki Zubis, Seamus O’Hara, Patrick Buchanan, Chris McCurry, Athena Karkanis and Georgie Murphy.

Co-created by Keith Martin, Gerry Dee and Tim Loane, the series explores relationships beyond the grand romantic gesture, focusing on the realities that follow and the challenges of stepping outside one’s comfort zone.

A CBC original, Committed is produced in association with BBC Northern Ireland under the UK/Canada Co-Production Treaty. The project was developed through the Northern Ireland Screen and Canada Media Fund co-development initiative, with additional financing from both.
