Fremantle Sets Global Rollout for Holey Moley with New Portugal Production Hub
Fremantle has secured global production and distribution rights to Holey Moley [also know as Hole In One], the hit format originally created for ABC by Eureka Productions, a Fremantle label. As part of its international expansion strategy, the company is establishing a major global production hub for the format in Portimão, Portugal. The new base is designed to elevate production values while delivering efficiencies for international partners, with initial filming scheduled for May and June 2026. Adaptations for multiple territories are expected to be announced in due course.

Jennifer Mullin, Group CEO, Fremantle, said: “Holey Moley has proven its success in the United States, with its unique blend of comedy, competition, and large-scale spectacle, attracting a significant broad audience. We are excited to drive the format’s international expansion through our new global production Hub in Portugal. Led by Fremantle Global Entertainment in close collaboration with the Fremantle Portugal team, this theme-park-scale set and world-class production infrastructure enable us to deliver premium, high-impact entertainment while achieving the production efficiencies essential in today’s global market. This Hub underlines our ambition and further strengthens our growing Fremantle entertainment portfolio.”

The format is an extreme mini-golf competition where contestants take on oversized, imaginative courses packed with physical challenges and unpredictable obstacles, combining sports, comedy and spectacle. Players compete for prizes including the signature plaid jacket, golden putter and a cash reward, while navigating visually striking holes and fast-paced gameplay.
Since its debut in the US and Australia, Holey Moley has delivered strong ratings performance. On ABC in the US, it became a summer hit, frequently ranking as the top-rated show of the night, while in Australia it significantly outperformed Channel 7’s primetime average.

The move comes amid continued momentum for Fremantle’s entertainment division, which delivered 345 commissions across 62 territories in 2025, reinforcing its global footprint in format production. The company’s catalogue includes major international franchises such as The Price is Right, Family Feud, Got Talent, Idol, Masked Singer, Farmer Wants a Wife, B&B of Love, The Farm, The X Factor, Freeze, Who Knew?, Love Never Lies, The Piano, Too Hot To Handle and Pandora’s Box.
