Nippon TV Unveils Bold Gyokuro Studio Unscripted Slate for Content Europe 2026
Nippon TV is set to spotlight a fresh lineup of unscripted formats from its in-house production arm Gyokuro Studio at the inaugural Content Europe 2026, with the social experiment Majority Rules leading the slate. Alongside this title, the offering includes family game show The Balance and high-energy culinary competition Cooking Rush!.

“Since its launch last June, Gyokuro Studio has been dedicated to crafting innovative formats that resonate across borders. At the inaugural Content Europe, we are thrilled to showcase a diverse range of entertainment—from intriguing psychological experiments that unlock the human mind to the family-friendly studio game shows that are a signature of Nippon TV. We are also actively driving creative partnerships and look forward to the opportunity to connect with everyone in Lisbon,” said Ken Akiyama, Head of Gyokuro Studio, Nippon TV.
“We are arriving in Lisbon with great momentum. Since we sneak previewed Majority Rules in London this past February, the interest from buyers has been incredible. The format’s power lies in its simplicity: every decision is a visual, binary choice between red and blue. These instant votes trigger rapid shifts in loyalty and psychological tension, keeping viewers hooked as the stakes escalate. I look forward to connecting with our European partners to bring these bold formats to their screens,” added Yoko Takashima, Associate Managing Director, Content Business & Distribution, Nippon TV.

At the center of the slate, Majority Rules unfolds as a high-stakes social experiment in which 13 strangers are isolated for 18 days and must govern every aspect of their lives through majority vote. The show is now available to global buyers, with its North American rollout supported by a strategic partnership with Blue Ant Studios.
Also in the lineup, The Balance introduces a universal competition concept where families rely purely on their sense of balance to win challenges, creating an inclusive format that bridges generations through simple yet engaging gameplay.
Meanwhile, Cooking Rush! delivers a fast-paced twist on culinary entertainment, as chefs race to serve dishes via a conveyor belt, with winners determined by the number of plates consumed by a panel of judges—favoring immediacy and visual appeal over traditional critique.

The Gyokuro Studio slate is further complemented by titles such as Cash or Splash!, as well as previously launched formats Mega Catch and Secret Little Assistant, reinforcing Nippon TV’s strategy to diversify its unscripted portfolio with scalable, internationally appealing concepts.
