Elsewhere, the one-off documentary Sentinels of Antarctica (1x52’) has landed new international buyers. The film investigates the geopolitical and environmental implications of the presence of an Argentine military base in Antarctica and has been picked up by Irish broadcaster TG4, while Thema has secured the title for Canada.
Environmental documentary Eating: The Power to Save the Ocean (1x52’) has also attracted multiple European broadcasters. The film explores how changes in global food production and consumption could play a key role in protecting marine ecosystems. It has been acquired by TG4 in Ireland, Mediawan in France, RTP in Portugal, and ERT in Greece.
Meanwhile, the documentary series Hope (6x52’) has also secured several European sales. The series travels across the globe to meet scientists, entrepreneurs and communities implementing solutions to combat climate change and features contributors including primatologist Jane Goodall and actor and activist Gael García Bernal. The series has been picked up by ERT in Greece, HRT in Croatia, and RTP in Portugal.
Only Distrib will be attending Content Europe this year to further promote these titles to international buyers and continue expanding the reach of its factual catalogue.
