The breakout animated series "Iyanu" is scheduled to return for its second season on March 21 on Cartoon Network, followed by a release on Max the next day. Produced by Lion Forge Entertainment and based on the graphic novels by Roye Okupe, the show has become a significant hit, earning critical acclaim and high engagement for its portrayal of African mythology and culture.
The upcoming ten-episode season continues the journey of Iyanu, a teenage orphan mastering divine powers to protect the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland. The voice cast features returning actors Serah Johnson, Okey Jude, and Sam Kugbiyi, joined by newcomers Faith Gesiere Agua and David Onwubalili.
Beyond the television series, the franchise is expanding with a feature-length film currently in development. Internationally, the series maintains a strong presence, streaming on Showmax across Africa, ITVX in the UK, ABC iview in Australia, and platforms across the MENA region.
Lion Forge Entertainment Founder and CEO David Steward II says: “'Iyanu' has proven itself to be a standout series, and we’re thrilled to continue that journey with season two. This next chapter raises the stakes in every way, from the scale of the story to the depth of its characters. 'Iyanu' season two marks an exciting milestone for the franchise’s continued growth. We’re confident viewers will be drawn even deeper into this world as Iyanu’s adventure expands with bold storytelling and powerful new challenges."
”Iyanu’s journey in season two is one of secrets, sacrifice, and the true cost of leadership, and it has been the most rewarding creative experience of my career,” said Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, Roye Okupe. “I am thrilled to once again partner with Lion Forge Entertainment to bring this project to life.”
