Channel 5 in the United Kingdom has commissioned a new 90-minute documentary special titled "The Three Kings of 1936" from independent producer Woodcut Media and its distribution arm, Woodcut International. The program is slated to air on the network this Saturday, March 7th, at 9pm.

The film marks the 90th anniversary of a pivotal and chaotic year for the British Crown. The narrative explores the sequence of events that began with the passing of George V in January and the rise of Edward VIII. It examines the international scandal caused by Edward’s romance with Wallis Simpson, his subsequent abdication in December, and the unexpected succession of his brother, George VI, all while Europe stood on the brink of war.

By blending archival records and rarely seen imagery with expert commentary, the documentary seeks to understand the personal drivers of the monarchy and the sentiment of the British public. The production features insights from Julie Montagu, the Countess of Sandwich, and acclaimed actor David Suchet, who provides a unique look at clandestine photographs of the King taken by his grandfather, James Jarché.

The project is led by Series Producer Jonathan Mayo and Executive Producer Kate Beal. Woodcut International is overseeing the global distribution rights.
