Primitives has licensed a new French adaptation of Down the Road to Gulli, part of the M6 Group. The French version, locally titled Sur la route 21, will feature French singer Matt Pokora, who accompanies six young adults with Down syndrome on an unforgettable journey to Québec.
In Sur la route 21, Matt travels more than 5,000 kilometers alongside Jeanne, Laurène, Loéline, Cyril, Marin and Théo. While the group shares the experience of living with Down syndrome, each participant brings a unique personality and life story, resulting in an emotional and uplifting journey that explores independence, friendship and self-discovery.
Originally created in Belgium by Roses Are Blue, Down the Road has become an international success, with adaptations produced across multiple European territories including Germany, Romania and Poland. The format has been widely praised for its heartfelt storytelling and authentic portrayal of human experience, and has been rewared with several awards including the prestigious Rose d’Or and the AIB Impact Award. In its home market, the Belgian version has been highly successful on VRT, with season eight set to premiere later this year
The French adaptation is produced by 909 Productions (Mediawan) and is set to launch on 26 February.
Simone de Pruyssenaere, Managing Director at Primitives, said:“We are thrilled to see Down the Road continue to resonate with international audiences in such powerful and positive ways. This French adaptation for Gulli celebrates courage, joy and connection, and we look forward to sharing it with viewers who are hungry for meaningful, uplifting television.”
