Eccho Rights has closed a new round of broadcast agreements for the Turkish drama series "I Am Mother" (original title: Sandık Kokusu), further strengthening the title’s presence across Latin America. The latest deals include a major acquisition by Record TV in Brazil, alongside new sales to Telemicro in the Dominican Republic, Venevision in Venezuela and Canal 5 in Honduras.
Produced by O3 Medya and originally commissioned by Show TV in Türkiye, "I Am Mother" has emerged as one of the most internationally travelled Turkish dramas of recent years. The series has resonated with audiences thanks to its emotionally rich storytelling and its exploration of themes such as motherhood, loss and resilience.
“I Am Mother continues to connect strongly with broadcasters across Latin America, where there is a clear appetite for emotionally rich, character-led storytelling,” said Barbora Suster, Head of Sales for LATAM at Eccho Rights. “These new deals, particularly with a major network like Record TV in Brazil, underline the series’ broad appeal and its ability to perform across very different markets in the region.”
The series stars Özge Özpirinçci, Demet Akbağ, Metin Akdülger, Engin Öztürk and Nesrin Cavadzade, and concluded its run in March 2025 after two successful seasons on Show TV. Previous international sales include Spain, Chile, Colombia, Panama, the U.S. Hispanic market and the MENA region, where the series aired day-and-date with its original Turkish broadcast.
"I Am Mother" follows Karsu, a woman trapped in an unhappy and abusive marriage whose life is turned upside down when her young son disappears during a trip to Istanbul. Years later, a chance encounter offers hope of reunion, forcing her to confront past trauma and redefine the true meaning of motherhood as she fights to reclaim her family.
