HBO Max, the global streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery, is officially live in Italy. Already available in more than 100 countries, HBO Max brings together, for the first time for Italian audiences, a portfolio of premium content within a single platform.
Subscribers in Italy can now access titles from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe, Max Originals, Eurosport, and more. The service is available via web (hbomax.it), app, as an add-on subscription through Amazon Prime Video, and through TIM as a launch partner for TIMVISION customers.
HBO Max debuts with an impressive slate of exclusive and highly anticipated titles, including A Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Among the most awaited global releases are the HBO Original A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (available from January 19), set in the Game of Thrones universe, and season two of The Pitt, the Emmy-winning Max Original medical drama.
The platform also hosts HBO’s most iconic series, from The Last of Us and The White Lotus to Euphoria, House of the Dragon, Succession, and timeless classics such as Friends, The Sopranos, The Wire, and Sex and the City. Film lovers will find major global hits and franchises, including the Harry Potter saga, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dune, and The Batman.
A key pillar of the Italian launch is local production. The first Italian HBO Max Original, Portobello (premiering February 20, 2026), is directed by Marco Bellocchio and stars Fabrizio Gifuni, telling the story of one of Italy’s most notorious miscarriages of justice involving TV host Enzo Tortora.
Other upcoming Italian projects include Peccato, a mockumentary comedy directed by Valerio Vestoso and starring Emanuela Fanelli, and In Utero, created by Margaret Mazzantini and directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi, featuring Sergio Castellitto. The Italian slate also includes ambitious docuseries and exclusive films, reinforcing HBO Max’s commitment to locally rooted, high-quality storytelling.
HBO Max will offer comprehensive live coverage of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games (February 6–22, 2026), available to all subscribers regardless of plan. Sports fans can further enhance their experience with the Eurosport add-on, featuring Grand Slam tennis, cycling Grand Tours, winter sports, football, UFC, motorsport, and more.
JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, described the Italian launch as a key step in HBO Max’s European expansion. Alessandro Araimo, EVP Managing Director for Southern Europe, highlighted the platform’s strategic importance for the Italian audiovisual industry and its role in showcasing stories that have shaped Italian society.
