Synopsis
In August 2021, as the Taliban seize Kabul, French RAID agent Michael Le Guen, stationed at the French Embassy, fails to evacuate an Afghan family he has grown close to and loves as his own. After the execution of the parents, Noor and Laila, Michael vows to save their 11-year-old daughter Marwa.
A mischievous and brilliant child who dreams of becoming an astronaut, Marwa now harbors resentment toward Michael for breaking his promise. Forced to flee across Afghanistan—by car and muleback—toward the Uzbek border, the unlikely pair navigate a landscape that is both perilous and breathtaking.
With only the sky, the towering mountains and an Afghan fixer as their allies, Michael and Marwa face danger, heartbreak and moments of absurdity. Through this journey, marked by constant questions and growing trust, they forge an unexpected bond that will change their lives forever.
