Dutch public broadcaster EO launches a new dating show on NPO 1 titled Je weet niet dat je date (You Don’t Know You’re on a Date), offering a stripped-back alternative to traditional dating entertainment.
The format is built around a simple concept: participants do not know they are taking part in dates. Over the course of a day, a single person meets three potential partners through apparently casual, everyday encounters. The interactions are organised by the production and filmed with hidden cameras, but presented to the participant as ordinary social situations.Only after all three encounters does the reveal take place. In a final segment, the participant is informed that the meetings were in fact dates and is asked to choose one person for a real follow-up date.
The show is hosted by Anne-Mar Zwart, whose role is limited to guiding participants through the reveal and the final decision. The editorial tone is deliberately restrained, avoiding competition, eliminations or heightened drama.
The programme is currently airing on NPO 1, with episodes also available on the network’s digital platforms.
