The first session, “Producing in the Canary Islands: The Keys to Financial Success,” will highlight the unique fiscal and financial advantages available to film and TV producers. With participation from Carmen Aguado (Écija Abogados), Fernando Rodríguez (Bankinter), and José Ramón Barrera (Government of the Canary Islands), the panel will discuss practical ways to optimize the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) and access public funding mechanisms designed to boost audiovisual investment in the region.
The second panel, “Case Studies: International Co-Productions in the Canary Islands,” will feature Sebastián Álvarez and Alejandro Álamo from Volcano Films, moderated by Ricardo Martínez (Tenerife Film Commission). Through two concrete examples — the Netflix series La Palma and the international thriller The Hive — the discussion will demonstrate how local expertise, competitive tax incentives, and strong institutional support have positioned the Canary Islands as a strategic partner for global co-productions.
Celebrating its 21st edition (October 27–31), CIIF Market continues to be a key meeting point for producers, financiers, and industry professionals, reinforcing the Canary Islands’ reputation as a world-class location for audiovisual production.
