Of all the formats seen, presented and announced at the recently concluded MipCom, my personal award for the most interesting (and cute) goes to The Advent Calendar, created and produced by Canadian company Sphere Media and broadcast by Bell Media on the Crave platform.
The format is really original and intriguing, with a larger-than-life advent calendar which offers a single woman the chance to find love in 24 days. Each day in December, she opens a different door to find men who are more charming than the last, as well as entertaining experiences and encounters with the holiday flavour.
Accompanied by a well-known host, the single woman embarks on a quest to find love in time for Christmas. Through magical dates and romantic twists and turns, she must choose which suitor to eliminate each day, until on the last day she selects the man who will accompany her to her family’s Christmas dinner.
This magical TV show, reminiscent of a Christmas fairy tale, combines the classic dating show with a Christmas atmosphere. It’s actually a very original and charming concept that even moved me a little ;)
