Midsomer Murders is back for series 26 — and it’s raising the stakes
The beloved British detective drama Midsomer Murders has been renewed for its 26th season by ITV and All3Media International, adding four new feature-length episodes and bringing the total to 148, making DCI Barnaby one of television’s most prolific detectives.

Produced by Bentley Productions and executive produced by Michele Buck, the new season will once again feature Neil Dudgeon as DCI Barnaby, Nick Hendrix as DS Winter, Annette Badland as Dr. Fleur Perkins, and Fiona Dolman as Sarah Barnaby.

The show remains a global ratings hit, airing in nearly 200 territories and ranking among the top three programs in countries such as Germany, Scandinavia, and the Baltics. In the UK, it is the most-watched FAST channel on ITVX, where all episodes are available 24/7.

Beyond television, Midsomer Murders continues to expand its brand with a North American FAST channel, a range of licensed products, and a stage adaptation of its first episode, The Killings at Badger’s Drift, premiering later this year. Additional tie-ins include an interactive novel, a casual gaming app, and a podcast titled Midsomer Murders Mayhem, hosted by Nicki Chapman.

As the series celebrates over 25 seasons, its cast will attend MIPCOM 2025 in Cannes to mark the milestone. With filming on season 25 now complete, production of season 26 is expected to premiere in 2026, reaffirming Midsomer Murders as one of the UK’s most successful and enduring detective franchises.
